go here to see Darryl Worley’s video that he made today in remembrance to all of the people we lost eleven years ago.
today is a day that i hope everyone always takes time to remember. can you remember where you were the day that the towers fell and how you felt? where were you, how were the people around you reacting? i remember it clear as day :: i was a groggy-eyed nine year old sitting on the couch wondering why everyone was staring at the television that was repeating the same clip of an airplane crashing into a big building when my mom was supposed to be getting me ready for school. i was a confused fourth grader who knew her dad should be at work by seven in the morning but instead he was pacing back and forth fighting back tears and saying he couldn’t believe it. i had no idea that i was seeing my home being attacked, i don’t think i would have understood even if someone would have told me. i’ll never forget as the day went on how devastated everyone around me was. i was lucky enough to be on the west coast in California and i cannot imagine the panic of those who were there in the aftermath. some people, like me, are lucky enough to not have lost anyone in that tragic day. But we did lose a part of our family, America is a family in and of itself and we lost a part of it on September 11, 2001. i believe that we should always pay tribute to those people whether they be unsung heroes or well-known it is a day that should be kept in every Americans heart not only on September 11th but daily. if you have children how have you explained to them what September 11th is? my aim at this post is not to start some political banter, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but i really think that our nation is not as whole as it used to be. if you look back in history the American people hold so much pride in who they are and what we represent as a nation, today is very different. a lot of people choose to just ignore what is going on and if everyone stops believing in America what will we have to face? in my opinion Darryl Worley really sums up how all of us should feel, how can any American forget about this tragic day or not have faith and respect for our military? We should never turn our backs on those who give their lives serving our nation, i hope i have given you all something to think about.
